Why choose Little Ark Preschool?

Little Ark Preschool provides exceptional early childhood education for children ranging from the ages of 3 to 6. Every corner of the preschool has been designed to enhance preschool education and children’s wellbeing.

The Little Ark Preschool Arts and Music Program recognise the importance of early exposure to art and music for the child’s developing brain. Our program is carefully implemented to expose children to different mediums and deliberate use of the voice and use of instruments.

The Little Ark Preschool outdoor natural playspace, gives our preschoolers the opportunity to interact and be challenged by nature.

The research that underpins the curriculum implemented at Little Ark Preschool ensures that our preschool children receive skills to put them in the best position for success in education and life.

Our Philosophy

At Little Ark Preschool, we believe that high-quality early education emerges from genuine and respectful relationships with children, families and the wider community. Our preschool fosters these relationships through an ongoing process of collaboration that underpins our pedagogical practice.

In our education and care of children, we:

  • Develop a holistic program based on each child’s strengths, capabilities and curiosities.
  • Scaffold and facilitate structured and play-based experiences, encouraging hands-on learning.
  • Promote cultural diversity including Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander perspectives.
  • Foster engagement and understanding of sustainable practices.
  • Provide safe and inclusive learning environments, both indoors and outdoors.
  • Assist children in developing the skills to consider and maintain their own self-care, safety, well-being and healthy lifestyles.
  • Seek to strengthen the child’s independence, communication skills, confidence, self-regulation and curiosity for the wider world.
  • Encourage respectful and healthy relationships with others around them.
  • Promote the authentic rights and safety of all children.

In our partnerships with families and the community, we:

  • Seek to establish continuity between home, preschool and the community.
  • Encourage families to share their cultural, language and home experiences, building a sense of belonging for all children.
  • Pursue respectful relationships and open communication with all families.
  • Engage in collaborative learning practices to incorporate the cultures of our families and our wider community within the educational program.
  • Maintain a network of links to the community and agencies to provide support for parenting and family wellbeing.

In our role as educators and learners, we:

  • Deliver supportive mentoring to ensure a collaborative team environment.
  • Believe in maintaining staffing arrangements to provide consistency for children and families.
  • Value the contributions of staff sharing their passions and abilities within the educational program.
  • Provide opportunities for professional growth and personal well-being.
  • Encourage staff to engage in reflective practice with a commitment to quality improvement.
  • Continuously share our knowledge and expertise through open communication and teamwork.

Little Ark Pre school has without a doubt become an extension of our family. The educators go above and beyond to create educational, play-based experiences that are developed from the children’s interests. The inside and outside areas are spacious and learning stations are regularly changed to make way for the next exciting thing to explore. There is a strong sense of community and a focus on helping children to develop the skills they need to be kind, independent and curious. Music, literacy, yoga, numeracy, cooking, structured and unstructured play all happen at Little Ark. We could not be happier that our children have the opportunity to be at this beautiful preschool.
